Default How to Register for USMLE Step 1

how to register for usmle step 1 - Registration for USMLE

first of all go to ecfmg.org and get registered to get ecfmg id, whcih is a number. registration for usmle id is free so better do it now.

then when you are applying for exam, get these documents ready:
  • copy of degree
  • copy to transcript
  • record of your wards from 3rd year to final year.
then go to ecfmg.org. on the left side, you will see IWA, click that, sign in with your ecfmg id/number and password. then on the left, you will see a link to "start new application", click that, your registration begins. registration has two parts, online and offline.

online: first part is online. once you start it, you have to finish it in fifteen days. its a long series of questions, name address, medical college etc, also ward record, which you will have to type. at the end of the online part, you will select your quarter. for example if you want to take step 1 in march, then take a quarter on march-april-may, after that you will enter credit card number etc for the fee transaction. it was 880 dollars in my time. after everything, it will give you link to 3,4 forms, download and print them and fill them from college. they are very simple forms. now the offline part begins.

offline: you have 12 months to finish this part. all the forms that you printed, get them filled from college, attach copies of degree and transcript and have your college send them to ecfmg. everything is described in detail in the forms. your college has to send them, not you,
