What is the difference between nephrotic and nephritic syndrome?

Nephrotic syndrome is associated with proteinuria
Nephritic syndrome with hematuria.

hypoalbuminemia=decreased oncotic pressure= edema
it is common to both!

In Nephritic syndrome there is

1. Hematuria
2. Azotemia ( high levels of nitrogen containing compounds e.g urea )
3. Oligouria
4. Hypertension

While in Nephrotic syndrome

1. Massive proteinuria ( greater than 3.5 )
2. Hypoalbuminemia
3. Hyperlipidemia / hyperlipiduria
4. Edema
